Four Benefits of: Shea Butter

Shea butter is a superfood for your skin, in that it’s naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F. It’s also great as it offers UV protection, so we’ve compiled a list of four benefits of Shea butter.

  1. It’s extremely moisturising
The natural vitamins and fatty acids in Shea butter mean that it’s very nourishing and moisturising for our skin. In fact, it’s often a natural remedy for dry skin  and is used to protect the skin’s natural oils.
  2. It soothes skin
If you’ve been out in the sun all day and it’s made you a little red, or slightly burned you, Shea butter can be used to soothe it and take away the sting. Be careful not to use it on really burnt skin though as it may sting.
  3. Reduces inflammation
A study in 2010 found that due to its natural properties and cinnamic acid, it can be used as an anti-inflammatory. One particular compound in it was found to reduce skin inflammation, making it really good for those who suffer with acne.
  4. It smooths skin
Shea butter aids the skin’s natural collagen production which protects and nourishes skin to prevent it from drying out. In the long term, it can soften and strengthen skin, as well as reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

We hope you found these benefits useful and leave us as comment or tweet us, letting us know if you have used Shea butter and how it’s worked for you.
